NaiTel and MEDUSA Partner to Strengthen Connectivity Between Jordan, Europe and North Africa

NaiTel, the telecommunications arm of Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), and the MEDUSA Submarine Cable System have signed a strategic agreement aimed at strengthening international connectivity between Jordan, Europe and North Africa.
Under the agreement, NaiTel and MEDUSA will connect the MEDUSA submarine cable system to Aqaba Digital Hub through the Coral Bridge, providing a new access point to the MEDUSA network and creating a direct connectivity route from Aqaba to Europe through MEDUSA’s landing points and onward to the wider Middle East.
Expanding Aqaba’s Role as a Connectivity Gateway
The partnership will also see MEDUSA establish colocation capacity at Aqaba Digital Hub, an open-access, carrier-neutral digital infrastructure facility designed to serve as a gateway for international connectivity into Jordan.
Through the integration, operators and customers connected to Aqaba Digital Hub will be able to access MEDUSA’s high-capacity submarine network and establish connectivity with Europe.
The arrangement is also expected to strengthen Aqaba’s role as an open-access gateway connecting international networks to Jordan and the wider Middle East.
Integrating Submarine and Terrestrial Infrastructure
MEDUSA is developing a next-generation submarine cable system linking Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
The agreement will integrate the submarine cable infrastructure with NaiTel’s regional and international connectivity network, alongside Aqaba Digital Hub’s carrier-neutral data centre and open-access cable landing station in Aqaba.
The combination is designed to provide telecommunications operators, cloud providers, digital platforms and enterprises with additional international connectivity options and more diversified routes across the region.
Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub, said the partnership would expand the international connectivity ecosystem being developed in Aqaba.
“Our collaboration with MEDUSA further expands the international connectivity ecosystem we have built in Aqaba, strengthening the links between Europe, North Africa, Jordan and the wider Middle East.”
He added that MEDUSA’s growing Mediterranean footprint, combined with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub’s terrestrial, subsea and data-centre infrastructure, could provide a foundation for developing more diversified international connectivity routes.
“Jordan is uniquely positioned to serve as a bridge between the Mediterranean and the wider Middle East,” Abu Khorma said, adding that the company looks forward to developing new connectivity opportunities across the region with MEDUSA.
MEDUSA Extends Its Mediterranean Connectivity
Norman Albi, CEO of MEDUSA Submarine Cable System, said the partnership represents an important step in extending the company’s Mediterranean connectivity into Jordan and the wider Middle East.
“By combining MEDUSA’s high-capacity submarine network with NaiTel and ADH’s terrestrial, data centre and subsea infrastructure in Aqaba, we are creating new opportunities for carriers, cloud providers, digital platforms and enterprises to access more diverse and resilient international routes.”
Albi said the collaboration would support stronger connectivity between Europe, North Africa and the wider Middle East while contributing to the region’s growing digital economy.
An 8,700-Kilometre Submarine Network
MEDUSA’s infrastructure comprises more than 8,700 kilometres of submarine cable, with 24 fibre pairs and a design life of 25 years.
The system connects a growing network of landing points across Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Syria. Through the Coral Bridge, connectivity is now being extended to Jordan.
The network’s geographic footprint is intended to provide additional connectivity routes between Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Open-Access Infrastructure
MEDUSA is designed as an open-access infrastructure, allowing telecommunications operators, carriers, data centres and other digital infrastructure providers to access international connectivity through multiple Mediterranean entry points.
The partnership with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub adds Jordan to this expanding connectivity ecosystem and provides an additional route between the Mediterranean region and the wider Middle East.
For Aqaba Digital Hub, the agreement further positions its carrier-neutral infrastructure as an international connectivity gateway, while for MEDUSA, the partnership expands the reach of its submarine network into a strategically connected market.
Together, the companies are seeking to create more diversified connectivity routes linking Europe, North Africa, Jordan and the wider Middle East.
