NYSC SAED Grand Finale Highlights Advanced Digital Skills Training for Corps Members in Oyo

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme has highlighted the importance of advanced digital skills training for young professionals during the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation programme at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin, Oyo State.

The training featured specialist-led masterclasses designed to deepen participants’ knowledge of emerging technologies, digital innovation and entrepreneurship. Seun Paul Olatunji served as a trainer, facilitator and mentor, engaging corps members and technology-oriented graduates in areas including artificial intelligence (AI), AI automation, web design, user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design, graphic design and digital entrepreneurship.

Unlike introductory computer training, the sessions focused on advancing existing knowledge among participants who had spent years studying technology-related disciplines. The masterclass approach provided an opportunity to explore practical applications, emerging tools and ways to translate technical expertise into professional opportunities and technology-driven ventures.

A representative of the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, emphasised the importance of continuous learning among technology professionals.

“One of the most important qualities a professional can possess is the willingness to keep learning, regardless of how much knowledge or experience they have already acquired. The fact that these corps members have studied their respective technology fields for years makes this kind of masterclass even more valuable. Expertise should never be a reason to stop learning; rather, it should be the foundation for asking better questions, exploring new possibilities and becoming better than we were yesterday. As technology continues to evolve, our ability to learn, adapt and improve must evolve with it,” she said.

The programme provides a platform for corps members to strengthen their capabilities, explore entrepreneurial opportunities and prepare for an evolving digital economy. Its emphasis on specialist training also reflects the importance of continuous professional development for graduates seeking to remain relevant in a rapidly changing technology sector.

Through the participation of experienced trainers and facilitators, the SAED initiative continues to promote knowledge-sharing and practical skills development as part of efforts to prepare young Nigerians for opportunities in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
