Nigerian digital technology innovator and social impact entrepreneur, Seun Paul Olatunji, has been honoured in Finland with the Best Africa Digital Technology Entrepreneur Award, a recognition that underscores his growing influence within Africa’s digital and innovation ecosystem.
The award was conferred on 27 August 2023 by the University of Vaasa, Finland, following an extensive assessment process that evaluated nominees based on innovation, scalability, social impact, and long-term contributions to digital transformation across Africa. Senior members of the university’s innovation and technology faculty endorsed the final selection.
Olatunji, who is the founder of MediAid Plus and Efiko NG, was recognised for leveraging technology to address critical societal challenges. MediAid Plus, a health-tech platform, has improved access to medical support and digital health solutions, particularly for underserved populations, while Efiko NG has emerged as a leading platform for youth empowerment, digital education, and capacity building.
Beyond product innovation, the award committee highlighted Olatunji’s commitment to human capital development. Through structured programmes, workshops, and mentorship initiatives, he has trained and mentored over 1,500 young people, equipping them with practical skills in digital technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
In its citation, the University of Vaasa described Olatunji as “a forward-thinking African technologist whose work demonstrates how digital solutions can drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.”
Reacting to the recognition, Olatunji expressed appreciation for the honour, stating that the award serves as motivation to deepen his work in building technology-driven platforms that improve lives, create opportunities, and position African innovation on the global stage.
