Togo Certifies 80 Digital Champions to Drive Public Sector Modernisation

The Government of Togo has taken another step in its public sector modernisation efforts with the certification of 80 digital officers drawn from ministries across the country. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen institutional capacity and embed digital expertise within government operations.
The graduates, representing 27 ministries, were recognised during a ceremony held on 12 June 2026 at the Sarakawa Hotel. They emerged from a highly competitive selection process that attracted more than 1,400 applicants and completed a specialised development programme focused on preparing public servants to lead digital initiatives within their institutions.
Coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Digital Transformation through Agence Togo Digital, the programme was designed to create a network of professionals capable of guiding the adoption, implementation, and management of digital projects across the public administration.
Participants underwent a comprehensive learning journey that blended virtual instruction with in-person workshops, mentorship sessions, and practical assignments. The curriculum covered areas such as project delivery, leadership development, product thinking, professional growth, and the application of artificial intelligence tools, delivered in collaboration with ALX Africa.
Between September 2025 and June 2026, the trainees participated in several intensive learning phases that strengthened competencies in communication, teamwork, adaptability, emotional intelligence, time management, and technology-enabled project execution.
Government officials noted that the completion of the training marks the transition from preparation to execution. The newly certified officers are expected to return to their respective ministries and play active roles in advancing digital projects, improving service delivery, and supporting institutional transformation efforts.
Authorities described the initiative as a long-term investment in public sector talent, emphasising that building a digitally capable workforce is essential to creating a more responsive, efficient, and citizen-centred administration equipped to meet the demands of an increasingly digital future.
