Madagascar Partners with YAS and AXIAN Telecom to Deploy Free Wi-Fi Across Universities, Boosting Digital Access and Online Learning

The Ministry of Digital Development, Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Transformation has signed a landmark agreement with YAS Madagascar to deploy free Wi-Fi hotspots across public universities throughout the country. This public private partnership, supported by AXIAN Telecom, is designed to significantly enhance digital access for students and foster greater opportunities for online learning and remote education.

Key officials attended the agreement signing ceremony, including Mr. Mahefa Andriamampiadana, Minister of Digital Development, Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Transformation; Mr. Benoît Janin, General Director of YAS; and Mr. Hassan Jaber, General Manager of AXIAN Telecom. Their presence underscores the collaborative effort to advance Madagascar’s digital transformation agenda.

The implementation of campus wide free Wi-Fi will provide students with reliable connectivity to essential digital resources, enabling more effective online learning, remote education, and academic research. By equipping the youth with these tools, the initiative aims to empower the next generation to achieve greater academic success and expand their educational horizons in an increasingly digital world.

This project highlights the government’s strong commitment to positioning internet access as a core enabler for Madagascar’s young population. It also demonstrates the value of strengthened partnerships between the public sector and private enterprises, such as YAS and AXIAN Telecom, in driving inclusive digital transformation and bridging the digital divide across the nation.
