South Africa Opens First Home Affairs Office in Hessequa and Upgrades Mossel Bay Branch
Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber announced the developments, saying the new Hessequa office is the first dedicated Home Affairs office serving the municipality.

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has opened a new office in Hessequa and upgraded its existing office in Mossel Bay as part of efforts to expand access to identity and other civic services.
Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber announced the developments, saying the new Hessequa office is the first dedicated Home Affairs office serving the municipality.
Both Hessequa and Mossel Bay now also have two bank branches each offering Smart ID application services. According to Schreiber, the bank-based service allows applicants to complete Smart ID applications in approximately five minutes.
The expansion forms part of the department’s efforts to improve access to identity services through its own offices and partnerships with banks. The minister said the changes were intended to make services more accessible to residents in the two municipalities.
The announcement did not specify the names of the participating banks or provide details on the capacity and operating hours of the new and upgraded offices.
