Uganda and South Korea Forge New Partnership in AI and Digital Transformation
Both parties agreed to pursue further technical engagements to identify practical areas of cooperation and advance potential initiatives in digital transformation

Uganda and South Korea are exploring expanded cooperation in digital transformation, with discussions focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, ICT skills development, innovation and digital government services.
The discussions were held between Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Permanent Secretary, Dr Aminah Zawedde, and a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), led by Country Director Yongsu Yi.
Zawedde called for closer collaboration to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem, develop local ICT expertise and harness AI to translate government information into local languages. The proposed use of AI could help make public information more accessible to citizens who communicate in Uganda’s various local languages.
The two sides also explored opportunities to integrate digital solutions into Uganda’s Parish Development Model, expand ICT training opportunities and support innovation across the country.
Discussions further emphasised aligning future cooperation projects with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap 2023–2028, which provides a framework for the country’s digital development priorities.
Both parties agreed to pursue further technical engagements to identify practical areas of cooperation and advance potential initiatives in digital transformation.
