Kafayat Olatoke on Building Scalable Digital Infrastructure for Food Service Businesses in Nigeria

As digital adoption accelerates across Africa’s service economy, founders building practical, scalable technology solutions continue attracting attention within emerging ecosystems. Since launching TasteBridge in 2023, Kafayat Olamide Olatoke has focused on developing digital systems aimed at improving operational coordination between food vendors and consumers in Nigeria.
Operating from Lagos, TasteBridge combines structured vendor onboarding, digital business management processes, and technology-enabled coordination designed to improve efficiency for restaurants and food service businesses. As the platform continues expanding its operational footprint, Olatoke has increasingly contributed to conversations around scalable digital systems, business efficiency, and locally relevant technology innovation.
In this interview with TechInfoAfrica, she discusses the evolution of TasteBridge, the role of scalable technology in emerging markets, and her broader perspective on digital innovation in Africa.
Interviewer: Since launching TasteBridge, what key challenges have shaped the platform’s growth and operational direction?
Kafayat Olamide Olatoke:
Building within an emerging market requires balancing innovation with operational realities. Since launching TasteBridge in 2023, our focus has been on building systems that remain practical, efficient, and scalable for both vendors and consumers.
One of the major priorities has been strengthening the operational structure behind the platform, particularly around vendor onboarding, service coordination, and user experience. Working within Lagos has provided meaningful insight into consumer expectations and the increasing demand for digitally enabled convenience.
Our approach has always been to build systems that can grow sustainably while remaining useful to businesses navigating everyday operational challenges.
Interviewer: TasteBridge operates at the intersection of digital commerce and service coordination. What do you believe differentiates the platform within Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem?
Kafayat Olamide Olatoke:
One important difference is the emphasis we place on operational structure. TasteBridge was developed with attention not only to consumer convenience but also to the backend systems that support vendors.
We introduced a structured onboarding model for restaurants and food businesses, allowing for more organised participation within the ecosystem. From a technology standpoint, we continue exploring SaaS enabled workflows and AI-supported processes aimed at improving coordination, operational efficiency, and user engagement.
For us, technology should not only be innovative, but it should solve practical problems in ways that businesses can realistically adopt.
Interviewer: As conversations around technology-enabled solutions continue expanding across Africa, where do you see the greatest opportunity for innovation?
Kafayat Olamide Olatoke:
There are significant opportunities in building systems that simplify operations and improve accessibility, especially in sectors where inefficiencies affect both businesses and consumers.
Across emerging markets, technology has the potential to improve coordination, reduce operational friction, and support sustainable business growth. I believe locally relevant solutions will continue becoming increasingly important as digital adoption grows.
Beyond product development, I also believe there is value in knowledge sharing, mentorship, and supporting younger professionals who are entering the technology ecosystem. Long-term ecosystem growth depends not only on innovation but also on collaboration and capacity building.
