SMART Zambia Concludes Trainer Development Programme on Smart Office System

The SMART Zambia Institute has completed a one-week Training of Trainers programme focused on the Smart Office platform, an electronic records and workflow system designed to improve efficiency in public sector administration.

The training session, held at the Ministry of Finance boardroom in Lusaka, brought together officials from multiple government institutions, including the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, the Ministry of Technology and Science, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Participants were guided through the functionality of the Smart Office application, with emphasis on how it can be used to streamline documentation processes, improve record handling, and support faster service delivery across government departments. The programme was structured to prepare selected officers to train colleagues within their respective ministries.

Facilitation was led by trainers from SMART Zambia Institute’s Service Management Department, including Roshet Kanyembo and Mercy Phiri, who delivered hands-on sessions aimed at building internal capacity for system adoption.

The initiative is part of broader government efforts to accelerate digital transformation across public administration through the use of technology driven systems that enhance coordination, improve record management, and support more efficient service delivery.

Officials noted that the programme is expected to strengthen institutional readiness for the nationwide rollout of the Smart Office system, while ensuring that government workers are equipped with the skills required to effectively use the platform in their daily operations.
