Ghana cybercrime arrests continue to intensify as authorities take decisive action against organized online fraud networks. In a significant development, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) working closely with National Security and the Ghana Police Service, has arrested 48 suspected cybercrime operatives. This coordinated, intelligence led operation took place in the early hours of Wednesday, December 24, 2025, between approximately 1:40 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. across four locations in the Dawhenya enclave, Greater Accra Region.
The suspects, consisting of 46 males and 2 females, are believed to be Nigerian nationals. They stand accused of involvement in various cyber related criminal activities. These include romance scams that exploit emotional trust, online investment fraud promising unrealistic returns, impersonation schemes targeting victims worldwide, and illicit online gold trading operations.
During the raids, security teams recovered substantial evidence of the scale of these activities. Authorities seized 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers. These items are expected to provide critical insights as investigations progress.
Ghana cybercrime arrests like this one form part of a broader series of joint efforts by Ghanaian security agencies. These operations target organized cybercrime networks operating within the country. The latest action demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding the nation’s digital space and protecting citizens from online threats.
However, one suspected ringleader, identified as Autin Osas (popularly known as Austin), remains at large. Investigations are ongoing to locate him and fully uncover the syndicate’s operations.
The Cyber Security Authority has reiterated its dedication to combating cyber threats. It maintains a 24-hour Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Incident Reporting Point of Contact (PoC) for the public. Citizens can report incidents or seek guidance on safe online practices by calling or texting 292, messaging via WhatsApp at 050 160 3111, or emailing report@csa.gov.gh.
