The Ministry of Communications, The Telecommunications and Digital, working closely with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and partner TETHER, has initiated a groundbreaking pilot program aimed at enhancing cyber resilience and digital skills among Senegalese youth.
This targeted effort focuses on young individuals aged 18 to 29, selecting 30 talented participants from 187 applicants to undergo comprehensive training in key areas such as cybersecurity, digital law, public policy, digital entrepreneurship, and cybercrime awareness.
During the program, participants created six innovative projects, demonstrating their newfound expertise in cybersecurity and digital entrepreneurship. Three standout finalist projects were awarded financial support of 5 million FCFA each, enabling the winners to launch startups that will generate skilled jobs and contribute to youth empowerment in the digital economy.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with Senegal’s Vision 2050 and the four pillars of the New Technological Deal horizon 2034, emphasizing digital sovereignty, the digitalization of public services, the growth of the digital economy, and stronger African leadership in technology. By fostering innovation and cybersecurity awareness, the program supports broader goals of youth empowerment and sustainable development.
A certificate and funding award ceremony took place on December 18, 2025, presided over by Minister Alioune Sall, alongside representatives from institutional, technical, and academic partners.
Positioned as a model for the continent, this pilot program promotes cybersecurity, digital skills, innovation, and youth empowerment across Africa, paving the way for greater cyber resilience and entrepreneurial opportunities
