Nigerian health technology startup MediAID Plus, founded by Seun Paul Olatunji, officially launched its digital healthcare platform in Lagos, Nigeria, in April 2021, positioning technology as a key response to healthcare gaps exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The platform was introduced to address challenges such as limited access to care, fragmented patient records and inefficient appointment systems, which became more pronounced during the health crisis. MediAID Plus provides a digital infrastructure designed to support healthcare providers and patients through improved coordination and data management.
Core features of the platform include real time appointment booking, secure digital records management for hospitals and patients, and API integration, enabling healthcare facilities and third party health solutions to securely connect systems and streamline workflows.
MediAID Plus operates as a digital technology startup under Naija Spirit Multimedia Services, a company that has been in operation since 2018. The initiative reflects a growing trend within Nigeria’s health sector toward the adoption of interoperable digital tools to improve service delivery and system efficiency.
To mark the official launch, the MediAID Plus team hosted a mini dinner get-together with staff, celebrating the platform’s rollout and acknowledging the collective effort behind its development. The gathering underscored the startup’s focus on collaboration and long term commitment to healthcare innovation.
According to Olatunji, MediAID Plus was shaped by lessons from the pandemic and built to support healthcare resilience through practical technology solutions. Industry observers note that platforms like MediAID Plus highlight the increasing role of digital health infrastructure in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem in a post-COVID era.
