Senegal’s health-tech startup Eyone has secured US$1 million in funding to scale its digital healthcare platform across underserved communities in West Africa. Led by telecom giant Sonatel’s investment arm, Véhicule d’Investissement et Financing (VIF), with additional backing from BICIS bank, this funding reflects growing confidence in tech-driven health solutions.
Eyone provides connected healthcare systems, including telemedicine services, electronic health records, and patient-doctor connectivity tools designed for low bandwidth environments. Founded eight years ago, its platform is tailored for the health-care realities of West African communities — rural clinics, remote patient access, and limited internet infrastructure.
With the new funds, Eyone aims to improve its infrastructure, enhance user education, and expand service coverage into more West African countries. The goal is to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, especially for communities with limited physical access to clinics and medical personnel.
While Eyone’s growth is promising, challenges remain: ensuring reliable connectivity, managing regulatory compliance in multiple countries, and maintaining user trust in data privacy are all areas requiring attention. On the flip side, its model fits well with the rising mobile usage, telecom-health partnerships, and government interest in digital health across the region.
Eyone’s $1 million raise marks a meaningful step in scaling telemedicine in West Africa. As the company expands, it has the potential to help reduce healthcare access gaps — bringing patients, clinicians, and technology closer.
