President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has officially launched the Zimbabwe National AI Strategy for 2026–2030. This important step marks a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation agenda. The Zimbabwe National AI Strategy aims to ensure artificial intelligence benefits all citizens, from busy urban areas to remote rural villages. It shows Zimbabwe’s strong commitment to embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution and building a modern, inclusive economy.

The Zimbabwe National AI Strategy outlines clear priorities for integrating AI into vital sectors of the economy. These include agriculture, mining, health, and education. By applying AI in these areas, the strategy seeks to boost productivity, improve efficiency, and enhance service delivery across the nation. For example, farmers could use AI tools for better crop management, while healthcare providers gain advanced diagnostics.

The plan also includes incentives to encourage businesses and innovators to adopt AI solutions. This support will help grow a vibrant, knowledge-driven digital economy that creates jobs and opportunities for Zimbabweans.

A central element of the Zimbabwe National AI Strategy is the development of ethical, human-centred AI systems. These systems must respect fundamental rights and promote inclusive growth for everyone.

President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of strengthening laws and regulatory frameworks. Such measures protect citizens, especially children, as AI technologies spread into daily life and various sectors. The approach ensures AI serves people responsibly while avoiding risks.

By launching the Zimbabwe National AI Strategy, the country positions itself to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence. This move strengthens Zimbabwe’s role in the global AI landscape. It advances innovation, supports economic development, and aligns with Vision 2030 goals for a prosperous, industrialized nation. The strategy reflects home-grown thinking and a focus on sovereignty in digital progress.

The launch event at the New Parliament Building highlighted calls for private sector investment in AI. Partnerships with startups and industries will help transform key sectors and accelerate modernization. Overall, the Zimbabwe National AI Strategy represents a bold declaration of readiness for AI’s transformative impact. It promises to unlock opportunities in agriculture, smart mining, healthcare, and beyond, driving sustainable socio-economic growth.
