TeKnowledge Expands Role as Key Partner in Microsoft AI National Skilling Initiative Nigeria Phase 2 to Train 10000 Participants

Microsoft AI National Skilling Initiative Nigeria enters an exciting new chapter as TeKnowledge announces its expanded role as the implementation and delivery partner for Phase 2. This collaboration aims to boost national workforce readiness and promote inclusive artificial intelligence adoption across Nigeria. TeKnowledge, a global expert technology services company dedicated to guiding organizations toward becoming AI First, builds on successful efforts from 2025 to scale practical AI skills nationwide.

In 2025, TeKnowledge played a central role in designing and delivering one of Nigeria’s largest AI capability building programs under the Microsoft AI National Skilling Initiative Nigeria framework. The initiative focused on turning widespread interest in artificial intelligence into real, employable skills rather than serving as a limited pilot. It featured extensive awareness campaigns, structured learning paths, hands-on technical training, and a developer-oriented hackathon. The program reached more than 50,000 Nigerians with foundational and intermediate AI skills. Additionally, over 3,000 participants completed advanced training and earned Microsoft AI certifications in various technical areas.

The effort aligned with national programs such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. It included coordinated developer training and an Agentic AI Hackathon where emerging developers created production-ready AI solutions for fintech challenges. Participants built nine agentic AI applications using Microsoft Semantic Kernel, addressing needs like document verification, risk assessment, and fraud detection in regulated industries.

To bridge training and employment, TeKnowledge organized a dedicated Career Fair. This event connected participants with employers and partners, leading to immediate job placements for several learners and clear pathways for others.

Phase 2 of the Microsoft AI National Skilling Initiative Nigeria scales these successes significantly. The program now extends partnerships with universities and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). It targets broader groups including business leaders, developers, entrepreneurs, youth, and women to maximize participation and impact. Delivery uses a hybrid approach with virtual sessions, hands-on projects, and select in-person activities to ensure wide reach and deep technical training.

Olugbolahan Olusanya, Territory Director for Africa at TeKnowledge, emphasized the importance of this phase. He stated that Nigeria faces a pivotal moment in its digital transformation where AI represents a current opportunity rather than a distant future. The commitment includes directly training 10,000 participants in Phase 2 with strong emphasis on youth, women, developers, and decision makers who will lead AI adoption across sectors. The Career Fair extends the program beyond training to create direct links from learning to employment opportunities, strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global AI economy.

Ola Williams, Chief Growth and AI Officer at Microsoft Middle East and Africa, highlighted Africa’s potential to become a builder in the global AI landscape. He noted that Microsoft’s AI Skilling Initiative supports Nigeria’s national digital efforts and has already produced innovative, locally relevant solutions from Nigerian talent. Expanding AI skills and adoption throughout the economy positions Nigeria and Africa for substantial benefits.

Globally, artificial intelligence is expected to add trillions of dollars to the economy in the coming decade. For Nigeria, with a population over 200 million and one of the world’s youngest workforces, building AI capabilities offers a powerful economic advantage. Scaling practical AI skills enhances employability, sparks innovation, and drives digital prosperity in various sectors.

Aileen Allkins, CEO and President of TeKnowledge, affirmed that nations investing in AI literacy and responsible adoption today will lead tomorrow’s economy. Nigeria possesses the talent, ambition, and entrepreneurial spirit to pioneer Africa’s AI transformation. The partnership combines global expertise with strong local execution to make AI skills accessible, inclusive, and impactful at scale.

Through this deepened collaboration, TeKnowledge reinforces its commitment to Nigeria’s digital future. It positions inclusive AI capability building as essential for long-term economic competitiveness and sustainable growth.
